Major Dan Rooney
UroGPO is proud of the partnership forged with Major Dan Rooney and his Folds of Honor foundation. Together, we have raised over $32,000 toward educational scholarships for the children and spouses of fallen and disabled service members. Air Force F-16 pilot and PGA Golf Pro Rooney humbled the audience with his perspectives on life, colleagues and the Armed Forces, leading them through the motivating, eye-opening and often humorous story of events that led him to found Folds of Honor. UroGPO has committed to continuing the relationship with the foundation and will host another fundraising event in advance of the 2018 UroGPO annual meeting in Cleveland, Ohio. Thank you for your generosity in supporting this great cause. For more information, visit https://www.foldsofhonor.org/.
Ryan Holiday, best-selling author of “The Obstacle is the Way” and “Ego is the Enemy,” led the audience through a crash course in history lessons on those who have encountered obstacles great and small, and turned them to their advantage. Ryan offered three steps for flipping a challenge into a win: perception, action and will. Perception involves possessing the discipline to find the opportunity in an obstacle. Action means getting moving against the challenge and following your process. And most important for those seemingly insurmountable obstacles is perseverance, or will. Holiday gave examples of how ego can derail an individual or organizational goals and said that suspending ego can unlock a path to success and prevent unforeseen pitfalls. Ryan’s books can be found here.
